It feels as though I’ve launched and re-launched WiSE multiple times over the past 12 months, and it probably looks that way as well. From officially launching the new WiSE name at BLAEK Store in October 2023, to closing the doors of BLAEK in Manly and re-launching WiSE Recycling Co full time in July 2024 to now, re-re-launching WiSE with its new branding and hot off the press website. It’s been a long, wild journey to say the least.
For those who are new here, I like taking already proven concepts, shaking them up by adding a few extra layers and then throwing them out in the wild to see if they survive. Every concept I’ve had has organically grown from its predecessor with each concept proving stronger than the last.
What is this all about

I’m here to shake things up while at the same time build a better future for all lives on planet earth and WiSE is going to take us to that next level.
Ok, so what is WiSE Recycling Co? An acronym for Waste, Innovation, Sustainability and Environmental impact, we’re a community-led recycling initiative that supports local businesses and gives back to people and the planet. We do this through collaboration, transparency, and education. The concept is simple, we collect your hard to recycle waste, you get rewarded every month (yes, every single month) with exclusive discounts and offers from Australian brands and businesses, in the form of a coupon booklet. If you like the sound of 2 for 1 pints of Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream, A free drink at the local Brewery or 50% off at Peaches Pilates then this really is a no brainer. It almost sounds too good to be true. But what it is, is people coming together, supporting one another, and having a positive impact on the world around us.
We’ve also added a great school collection program where families can sign up and $1 from each booking goes to the P&C / Parents Association of their participating school. We have extra perks for schools as well including an exclusive soft plastics collection program, because let’s be honest, it’s a big task hand-making package free lunchbox snacks every week, and if you’re like me, you’d rather spend time with your kids than in the kitchen rolling out coconut covered bliss balls.
When it comes to recycling there are always two questions asked. What do you recycle and where does it go? The short answer is, WiSE is recycling all the same categories that BLAEK Store was and we’re still utilising our much-cherished recycling relationships of the past five years with Terracycle collecting much of our plastic, shaving products, and soft plastic etc and our textiles and shoes being sent to Upparel. Our collected waste in separated, washed, and shredded to be made into products such as storage containers, construction applications, playground surface covers and more. I’ve spent the last 6 months trialling my new concept, with a handful of repeat customers, one lovely 12-month subscriber under my belt and some amazing brands and businesses already rewarding my recycling hero’s, the only way from here is up.
I’m starting 2025 with a shiny new website, ready for this community to grow and I’m excited to expand the WiSE team into a buzzing HQ this year, which let’s be honest shouldn’t be too hard as I’m currently employee number one, of one.
